The
project mission was the repair of a severely eroded
channel in a developing area in Northglenn. Its
areas of valuable natural resources were protected
and emulated in the new design. Using bioengineering
techniques and boulder drop structures, the channel
invert was controlled and the banks cut back and
stabilized. A pond traps the sediment, garbage
and debris, to improve storm water quality. A concrete
trail, running the full 6,000-foot length, connects
to the Platte River trail system.
A safe and enjoyable open space was created for
the people of Northglenn and surrounding areas.
