Environmental Planner/Scientist

Muller Engineering is looking to expand our environmental planning capabilities and is seeking an enthusiastic environmental professional to support transportation and water resource sector work. As a member of the Program Management team the Environmental Planner/Scientist will function in a variety of project-related roles including environmental task lead and reviewer, and technical specialist. The successful candidate has strong organizational skills and is results-oriented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Review and/or prepare technical reports, environmental compliance and permitting documentation
  • Lead, develop, and/or conduct analyses in support of NEPA, ESA, CWA and other applicable regulations
  • Provide technical state and regulatory permitting expertise on internal transportation and stormwater projects including 404 permitting, Section 7 consultation, and CDOT NEPA coordination
  • Lead and coordinate subconsultants assigned to various environmental resources
  • Review and red-line construction plans and notes; coordinate environmental requirements with reviewing agencies
Education and/or Experience Requirements: 
  • 6-15 years of direct or related environmental permitting experience, preferably in or related to transportation
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science or planning-related field
  • Previous experience mentoring junior staff
  • Strong knowledge of CDOT NEPA procedures or related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical knowledge working in or with ArcGIS personnel
  • Technical knowledge and experience reviewing engineering plans and documents
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ideal candidate is a team player that strives to provide quality work, meet project needs, and deliver projects on-time while having the ability to work independently with multiple priorities
  • Preferred wetland delineation and habitat assessment experience; ideal candidate will perform field work (locally) infrequently

Salary range for this position is: $73,840/yr - $107,120/yr dependent on experience
