IN THE NEWS: “‘Our big, beautiful brownfield’; West Carrollton kicks off river district redevelopment”

Muller’s West Carrollton River Park project was featured in a Dayton Denver News article, “‘Our big, beautiful brownfield’; West Carrollton kicks off river district redevelopment” FULL ARTICLE HERE.

“This is going to be a redevelopment project that is going to see…incredible economic development, the opportunity for jobs, and revitalization,” said U.S. House Rep. Mike Turner, R-Dayton. “And I’m very proud to have worked to secure $3 million of federal funds, which will help the redevelopment of this property.”

The West Carrollton Whitewater River Park is a transformative riverfront redevelopment initiative centered on the South Montgomery Low-Head Dam along the Great Miami River. The project will convert this historically hazardous reach of the river into a national-caliber whitewater recreation destination, integrating dam safety improvements, world-class whitewater and surf features, public access enhancements, and upland park amenities.

The article continues to explain, “that district and its whitewater feature are projected to attract 105,000 visitors to the area each year.”

The new whitewater park, “includes a river surfing and operations center, a recreation channel/flume, dam safety reconstruction efforts and final design and construction management.”

A map generated by Muller for use by the project team was also featured (see below).
