GENESEE MOUNTAIN PARK, TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS, AND BISON UNDERPASS

Genessee, Colorado

A book cover featuring a green line, highlighting its unique projects.

Muller provided preliminary and final design services for roadway and drainage improvements for the Bison Underpass and Overlook, Beaverbrook Trailhead Parking Lot, and the Challenge Ropes Course Staging Area Parking Lot at Genesee Park (the Park). Genesee was the first and largest park acquired by the Mountain Parks System, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013. The City and County of Denver initiated the Park and Trail Improvement Plan to assess and identify improvement options while recognizing the Park’s significant history, cultural and natural resources, and recreational opportunities.

Muller’s structural engineers designed the Bison Underpass to allow trail users and sightseers to safely observe the movements of the bison herd, while allowing the bison to be moved from enclosure to enclosure beneath this new pedestrian bridge.
