INTERSECTION PRIORITIZATION STUDY
Various Locations throughout CDOT Region 4
Muller delivered an Intersection Prioritization Study that provided Region 4 a list of intersection improvement projects based on a comprehensive review of safety, operational, and geometric conditions. The study began with about 580 intersections throughout Region 4, which cover most of northeastern Colorado. Initial screening pared the number of intersections to 120. At this level, a more detailed screening occurred to cut to the 40 highest priority intersections. For the top 40 locations, Muller prepared conceptual designs and a benefit-cost analysis for planned improvements. From the list of 40 intersections, the Muller team presented a top priority list of the top 25 intersections to prepare for programming and funding. At this time, 21 of the 25 intersections are programmed and in various stages of design and construction. CDOT awarded Muller the design of one at CO 52 and Weld County Road 17. Muller was subsequently hired by CDOT to perform an updated Intersection Prioritization Study using updated crash data.
