Massey Draw Stream Restoration
Littleton, Colorado

The Massey Draw Stream Restoration project involved the design of bank stabilization improvements and sculpted concrete drop structures to mitigate channel erosion, enhance wetland and riparian habitats, and reduce phosphorus and sediment loads entering Chatfield Reservoir. The project was integrated with pre- and post-project water quality monitoring programs aimed at quantitatively assessing the impacts of these improvements on both base flows and storm-related inflows to the reservoir. Public information and education programs were key components of the project.
This project was a finalist for both the 2006 Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers (CASFM) Grand Award and the 2005 APWA (Colorado Chapter) Community Award. In January 2006, it was also nominated for the Colorado Public Works Journal Community Award (Large Community).
