MILL LEVY 16A TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPGRADES, CAPITOL HILL 13TH AND 14TH AVENUES
Denver, Colorado
Muller designed six traffic signals along the 13th and 14th Avenue corridors in Capitol Hill. In addition to the traffic signal upgrades, the project included improvements to curb ramps, sidewalks, curb and gutters, and curb returns for accessible pedestrian access. Muller designed ten curb extensions (bulbouts) at four intersections to improve pedestrian mobility and shorten crossing distances. Drainage infrastructure was modified to accommodate the new curb extensions. Muller also developed updated traffic signal timing plans for the upgraded intersections.
Muller assisted in establishing three temporary construction easements to remove existing fixtures and replace sidewalk sections. The tight urban conditions of Capitol Hill required careful attention to both horizontal and vertical design to keep all proposed improvements within existing right-of-way (ROW) and to maintain existing drainage patterns.
