US 287 / CO 52 Intersection Safety Improvements

Boulder County, Colorado

A book cover featuring a green line, highlighting its unique projects.

Muller collaborated with CDOT Region 4 to support CDOT-led roadway design and performed traffic signal, storm drainage, and irrigation design for improvements at the US 287 and CO 52 intersection. The project added dual westbound and southbound left-turn lanes, 6-foot bike lanes and shoulders, replaced traffic signals, reconstructed the median, and added four turn islands. Improvements focused on safety, operations, and multimodal access for this concrete intersection, with widening to the north to minimize impacts to irrigation and structures in the southeast corner. The team supported CDOT to identify necessary ROW needs and coordinated with the Boulder and Whiterock Ditch to extend a concrete box culvert under US 287 as well as private irrigation owners to replace impacted irrigation structures and flumes to restore system connectivity.
