ASLA Colorado Honors Two Muller Projects at 2023 Awards Ceremony

At the American Society for Landscape Architecture’s Colorado chapter annual awards ceremony, our design partner Valerian was presented with the President’s Award of Excellence in Urban Design for the Platte Farm Open Space project. The project was also recognized for exemplary diversity, equity, and inclusion. Platte Farm Open Space, a 5.5-acre parcel that was once contaminated land, a dumping ground for industrial waste and trash, is now a thriving community space that comes alive each spring with mixed native grasses, wildflowers, trees, and pollinator gardens.

The President’s Award of Excellence is presented to recognize the highest contribution to the advancement of the profession of landscape architecture, which exemplifies the ethics upon which the profession was founded. Additionally, our longtime partner Stream Landscape Architecture + Planning accepted the Merit Award in the Design (over $500k category) of Panorama Park Renovation, a 13-acre park in the historically under-served community of Southeast Colorado Springs. Opened to the public in August 2022, Panorama Park today is a vibrant, active park and the new heart of Southeast.  Residents enjoy amenities that were prioritized through direct input from an active community base, represent the culture of the residents, and were funded through a commitment by the client group to address equity. Using the initial project goals as a measure, the park has had overwhelmingly positive impacts. Read more about the Panorama Park project here and on ASLA’s project page.
